about

FYI
'Subway' was written and recorded in a studio in Cologne, Germany, using:
3Ms 2" 16 track (like a commercial cooker)
Atari 1040ST
Hybrid Arts SMPTE Tracks
Emax rack + The Bliss Disk.
Yamaha TX81Z
Great British Spring reverb.
Monitoring: Quad 303, Tannoy Ardens.
Mastered onto Ampex 456 on a Klark Technic at 7.5ips (couldn't afford the tape to run it at 15ips).

lyrics

I was on the subway, late last week,
when I met a girl from the New York streets
She said "I'll tell you a story from the very start, about a girl like me who lost her heart. She met a guy, a bit like you, and they found their friendhip just grew and grew... all to no avail. As they say 'there was no sale.'

'cause don't
Don't promise what you can't deliver
Don't live a fantasy
Hold life in check and balance
'till true love comes... and then you'll be free.

He found that friendship ends in hate and war
'cause he was what he was and he could do no more
The gogs create, they mold and form
and his hell had no fury like that woman's scorn
The ref rang the bell; he learnt his lesson well

'cause don't, don't
Don't promise what you can't deliver
Don't live a fantasy
Hold life in check and balance
'till true love comes... and you'll be free.

about

Kamakura Wales, UK

Nick Calvert started Kamakura as a one man project band.

It organically grew to a three piece with the addition of Mick Dorey (keys), Mark Wright (Guitar), and 'Dealing With Liquids' was recorded,

Kamakura's final iteration as a band was a five piece, with the addition of Nick Ward (Drums) and and Martin Haslam (Bass). They toured England, then split.

Now Nick continues the journey.
